In 1997, Vena was a single mom working at a law firm. Having to dress professional on a budget, Vena found herself shopping resale in order to afford the quality clothes she wanted. With $1000 she bought used fixtures and started Selective Seconds in a small house (zoned commercial) in Mooresville, IN. She now owns the commercial property where she started her business and has moved Selective Seconds to Greenwood, IN. With 5000 sq. ft. of womens and juniors clothing & accessories, she employees 8-10 people and is open daily. Selective Seconds has been voted the #1 resale shop in Indianapolis.
Vena attributes her success to networking with other resale shops and having great employees. “This business brings people together that truly love resale. I would never be where I am now had it not been for all the support, friendship and knowledge of others.” It’s such a good feeling knowing this business is all about doing good—we help people save money by offering them clothing & accessories at substantial savings, we help people make money by consigning their gently used items, we are providing jobs to our local community, and we are helping the world by recycling.
